Affiliate Site Essentials
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009No matter what may be said out there, not every affiliate program can earn a consistently huge profit. There is opportunity for profit, but you’ll need to truly stand out in order to seize it. You cannot expect this money to just become yours without any effort. You must put forth effort.
Target your Traffic
A niche market helps you determine what specialized products you should endorse. Do not use “sporting goods” for example. There is too much competition in this category, as it is too broad. Use maybe “fresh-water bass fishing lures” as a smaller niche.
Generate more traffic
There are many techniques for bringing more traffic to your website. It’s wise to select three or less, strategies for your main plan.
“Natural” rankings are a lot of work. But you can still design a site, and with hard work, have it rank high on Google. For this to work, you must have content that is updated regularly. You also need as many links from other sites as you can possibly obtain. Directory submissions can not be utilized when you use an affiliate program. Affiliate sites are not accepted by most directories.
A different option is to just pay for your traffic. Known as PPC (Pay Per Click), this system consists of paying a search engine for each visitor they send to you. This may actually be cheaper than hiring someone to keep your search rankings high.
Get Your Email List Built
Offer a bonus, say free ebooks, or a free course to visitors to your website to accomplish this. By doing this, you will have access to their email address.
Be smart and always make an opt-in/opt-out available for your email list. You don’t want to wear the label of a spammer. If a person asks to be taken off your list, remove them immediately.
Send follow up emails over a period of days. DON’T email everyone that you have on your list every day. You will appear annoying when you are too aggressive. Allow your customers room to breathe. Set your limit to emailing weekly or monthly newsletters.
